Job Description

As a key member of the commercial team, the Regional Sales Manager for the Mid-Atlantic region (covering NJ, NY, PA, OH, WI, MI, and MN) will promote Psomagen’s clinical and research genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic services, acquiring new customers and nurturing them into longstanding accounts. This role will work cross-functionally with Sales Management, Project Management, Marketing and Laboratory Operations to develop and execute a sales plan to drive revenue growth and quota attainment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of NGS (next-generation sequencing), and proteomics markets, as well as associated lab technologies and applications. This role will be expected to develop and implement successful strategies and tactics to sell complex ‘omics-based services within this highly competitive marketplace.

  • Territory: Mid-Atlantic region, covering the states of New Jersey (NJ), New York (NY), Pennsylvania (PA), Ohio (OH), Wisconsin (WI), Michigan (MI), and Minnesota (MN).
  • Preferred Locations: Philadelphia metro area, or Northern New Jersey / NYC metro area.

 Responsibilities 

  • Drive sales of Psomagen’ s omics services to new customers within the designated territory, through face-to-face visits and other visual communication methods.
  • Effectively discover, qualify and close sales opportunities of new and existing accounts.
  • Successfully use verbal and written communication to influence customers to nurture sales leads and close sales.
  • Use a broad range of market research methods, analytical tools, and databases to uncover and qualify potential customers.
  • Partner with fellow commercial organization partners (sales, marketing, project management) and internal stakeholders (sales operations, laboratory staff) to maximize the customer experience.
  • Build & maintain relationships with customer accounts (Academics, Pharma/Biotech, Industrial, Direct-to-Consumer, Government, CROs/CDMOs, and hospital/clinical clients) at a high level, and develop appropriate business relationships with business leaders, decision makers, and influencers.
  • Develops and performs daily maintenance of all account/contact details within Psomagen’ s CRM (HubSpot) including deal/opportunity management, daily meeting and phone calls, etc.  Look for trends in application areas, omics usage and identify how to leverage that to grow sales.
  • Negotiates all ‘omics sales in territory and generates associated sales contracts and quotations.
  • Promptly follow-up on any market-developed sales leads by making direct contact with prospects and commencing screening within 48 hours.  Convert leads to opportunities and prioritize higher-quality sales prospects/opportunities to meet sales targets.
  • Maintain profit margins through effective sales negotiation and year-to-year price escalation.
  • Ensure that customers are fully satisfied with the services transactions and pre- and post-sales experience.
  • Provides regular and accurate sales forecast forecast updates including billed and in-process customer projects.
  • Actively promote all Psomagen’ s ‘omics-based services across research and clinical applications
  • Be a conduct between the company and the customers to bring back feedback to more effectively address customer needs to drive addition of new service offerings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences related majors (Biology, Chemistry, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing of NGS Services and/or molecular biology products is essential or working in or selling into a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the life sciences markets including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, knowledge of services processes a plus.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Driven to achieve revenue goals and strategic company and personal objectives
  • Travel within the territory as needed to meet with clients.  Occasional overnight travel including customer visits, conferences and business meetings.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in selling NGS sequencing services or related laboratory services
  • Work experience or knowledge of Core Laboratory and Shared Instrumentation settings.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory developed tests (LTDs)
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in the Science field a plus.
