The Vaccines and Immune Therapies group at AstraZeneca is developing next-generation vaccines and antibody-based treatment modalities to combat viral and bacterial infections. Accountabilities

Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to support the development of pipeline programs, including monoclonal antibodies and other biologic modalities against viral and bacterial targets.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5-8 years of experience in a laboratory setting, ideally in the biopharmaceutical industry; OR Master’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, ideally in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Broad experience required in performing in vitro assays to access monoclonal antibody function (binding assays such as ELISA and biolayer interferometry, flow cytometry, etc).
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture is required.
  • Additional experience in high throughput screening and assays specific to functional evaluation of drug candidates against infectious disease targets, such as virus neutralization assays, is preferred.
  • Molecular biology, as well as experience with animal models of viral or bacterial infection, will be considered a plus.
  • Experience working with lab automation, such as liquid handlers, is a plus.
  • The candidate must be dedicated to maintaining high laboratory standards with regard to safety and quality, and must possess good organization, record keeping, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand, conduct, and interpret results of technically challenging experiments with minimum supervision.
