Job Summary
Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.
Example Of Essential Functions
- Provides safety checks, calibrations, preventative maintenance and minor repairs to general patient care equipment, and numerous other Bio-Medical and non-Bio-Medical equipment.
- Supports the Mission of Frederick Health Hospital and complies with the hospital’s Code of Conduct.
Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Must have electronic and mechanic ability and be able to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
- Must have the ability to use effective communication skills both written and oral in completing job assignments, entering data and providing information to outside medical equipment manufacturers and communicate issues to clinical staff.
- Must be able to follow both written and oral directives and comply with any hospital and departmental policies and procedures and follow Joint Commission standards.
- Must be able to work with a database (computerize maintenance system) entering maintenance and repair information into work orders and run simples queries and reports.
- Must be able to utilize various hand and power tools necessary to complete work assignments. Must be able to learn to operate test equipment such as: electrical and pneumatic test equipment, function generator, frequency counter/timer, digital multi-meter, power supply, vacuum and pressure gauges. Safety and special medical test equipment including but not limited to the following: electrical safety analyzer, patient simulators, fluid analyzer and tachometer, force gauges, calipers, etc.
Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Required
- AA degree in Biomedical Engineering Electronics Technology or a current student, Electronics, or certificate of completion of a technical program and or experience in Biomedical Technology, Information Technology or a technical trade such as HVAC or Automotive Technology, or military education and training in a similar technical field is desired.
- 1 year or less experience in a hospital setting, with specialized training on one or more Bio-Medical device or systems desired.

Physical Demands
Medium Work – Lifting up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 25 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds infrequently or up to 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Awkward Posture: Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical activity. Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions.
Contact Stress: Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves, tendons, and blood vessels. For example, using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase risk of musculoskeletal disorders.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.
