Job Description
General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is actively seeking a full-time Cyto Technologist working in our MedStar Health Franklin Square Medical center. General responsibility includes staining, mounts, and studies human body cells to detect evidence of cancer and other pathological conditions. Regional Support and assistance required. Strongly prefer ASCP certification.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Standard Job Duty: Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
- Assists in Fine Needle Aspiration preparations,
- Assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies.
- Centrifuges specimens in test tubes for filtration or slide preparation
- Maintains required records, reports, statistics, and files as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Cytotechnology or biology or other life sciences with the completion of an accredited cytology program is required in Cytotechnology.
Experience
- 1-2 years related experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
- ASCP – American Society of Clinical Pathologist ASCP certification strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills required.
This position has a hiring range of $34.98 –
$59.26
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 – $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
