Dr. Mas’s laboratory within the Surgical Sciences Division at the Department of Surgery, University of Maryland is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher with a strong research background in molecular and cellular biology. Research in our lab focuses on epigenetic and genetic mechanisms of pathologic conditions that occur during liver and kidney transplantation by using state-of-the-art technologies such as single cell genomics. This opportunity provides the postdoctoral researcher with unique opportunities to be exposed to a broad range of concepts, techniques, and collaborative projects. Selected candidates will perform highly interdisciplinary and translational scientific research involving human cell lines, mouse models, and clinical samples.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Individuals with Ph.D. and/or M.D. are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will have achieved hypothesis-driven molecular biology research with a published scientific paper. Experience with basic molecular approaches including RNA, DNA, and extracellular vesicles isolations, QPCR, western blot, microarrays, and RNA sequencing is expected. Experience with flow cytometry is preferred. Experience in the analysis of genomics data and next-generation sequencing library preparations such as RNA-seq, ChIP-Seq, are preferred. Any skills with CRISPR genome engineering technologies will also be valued. Student mentoring and grant writings are also expected to work in our institute.
