Responsibilities
- Improve understanding of the biological relevance, survival, and transmission of viruses and other seed-borne organisms that impact the health, production and global trade of plant seeds
- Develop scientific knowledge that will reduce the impact of seed-borne pathogens on plant health
- Develop new and improved methods to improve our ability to assess, diagnose, and predict pathogen propagules in seed, including the ability to discriminate between the signatures of living versus non-living propagules
- Increase understanding of the mechanisms and pathways of pathogen transmission in seed
- Cooperate with industry, regulatory and other stakeholders to direct research efforts towards improved harmonization of phytosanitary requirements affecting the global movement of seed
- Analyze, interpret, and report research results in the form of presentations, publications, patents, and technical reports
