Job Description
Scientist, Cell Therapy Process Development
This position will involve performing experiments to design, optimize, characterize, and scale up consistent CAR-T cell processes. In this role, you will execute cell therapy experiments and projects through cross-functional interactions with Research, Analytical Development, and other functions. Accountabilities
- Designs and performs laboratory experiments with guidance from senior team members to develop and optimize CAR-T cell processes.
- Makes detailed observations, analyses data, and interprets results. Demonstrates scientific rigor in assessing own data and that of others. Utilizes forward-looking perspective to contribute to decision making.
- Familiar with different analytical methods that are used to characterize T cell proliferation and phenotype.
- Authors and contributes to development reports, scientific publications, patents, and regulatory submissions.
- Effectively presents results at internal meetings and external scientific meetings.
- Works effectively and collegially as a team member within a highly matrixed organizational structure.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelors degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience or Masters degree with 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong background in mammalian cell culture
- Experience with use and troubleshooting of cell processing using common platforms
- Excellent partnership and communication skills including proven technical writing skills, good publication records
- Strong background in experimental design and data analysis skills
- Ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly, work independently, multi-task, and manage shifting priorities
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or related field
- Cell production and cell scale-up technology experience
- Analysis of cell characteristics and phenotype using flow cytometry-based instruments and data analysis programs
- Experience running experiments using DOE principle
- Understanding of biology and bioprocessing supporting adoptive cellular immunotherapy as a therapeutic modality desired
- Uses knowledge of immunology, cellular engineering, T cell biology, T cell therapy, and bioprocess engineering and exhibits extensive experience working with multiple gene delivery systems for immune cells
- Skills applicable to scale up and scale down of CAR-T processes and advanced analysis of flow cytometry data
