Your Role:

At MilliporeSigma, as a Senior Associate Scientist – Assay Development/Molecular Biology/NGS, you will support R&D efforts for designing new platform technologies in the field of Molecular Biology. You will design new commercial bioassays that are scientific in nature for use in the life sciences industry. You will participate in the research, design, development, implementation of experimental plans and procedures.  In addition, you will help optimize processes and meet regulatory requirements with particular emphasis placed on the design of the projects.

  • Conducts assigned testing with minimal supervision within constraints of lab scheduling
  • Maintains complete and comprehensive records for study integrity
  • Presents detailed observations and documents results
  • Perform inventory and order lab consumables and reagents on a weekly basis
  • Summarize and present data to lab management and scientists during lab weekly meetings
  • Operates and maintains lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures
  • Performs peer review of assay batch/lab records
  • Utilizes applicable computer programs during testing and routine tasks (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, LIMS, BRIQS, etc.)
  • Communicates progress and interim results to study management
  • Informs supervisor of deviations or factors that may affect quality and accuracy of data
  • Maintains a working knowledge of lab procedures and assays
  • Authors and revises SOPs, laboratory records and other related documentation as assigned
  • Assists with training of laboratory personnel as needed/ assigned
  • Assists or coordinates assay transfer between the Blazar R&D Lab and operations lab
  • Contributes ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, protocols and  processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems in experimental design
  • Any ancillary duties assigned by manager or scientists

Who You Are

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field (i.e., Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, etc.) with 2+ years working molecular laboratory experience – OR –
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (i.e., Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, etc.) with 3+ years working molecular laboratory experience -OR-
  • Associate’s degree in a scientific field (i.e., Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, etc.) with 5+ years of working laboratory experience

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nucleic Acid Extraction techniques (manual and automated methods), with strong emphasis on standard and real-time PCR technologies (i.e., qPCR & digital droplet PCR), NGS library preparation and strong background with sequencing technologies
  • Experience with automation such as with liquid handlers and DNA/RNA extraction equipment (e.g., epMotion, QIAgility, EZ1, QIAsymphony)
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • GMP/GLP experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team-based environment
  • Experience with Illumina and ONT technologies

 

Pay Range for this position – $39,100 – $117,300

 

Our ranges incorporate all levels and career types available within this specific role, and are derived from relevant industry market data.  Should we decide to make an offer, we will consider several factors, including but not limited to your location, skills, experience, career level, and other job-related factors.  This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; paid time off; and paid holidays; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses.
