Location/Division Specific Information:
The BioServices Team, Rockville, MD site focuses on the receipt, inventory storage, withdrawal and shipment of biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials from multiple commercial and government clients.
How Will You Make an Impact?:
The Sr Material Handler supports operations by leading, overseeing and guiding the team of Material Handlers for the execution of day-to-day responsibilities and provides training needs for the team.
A Day in the Life:
- Operate in a GMP/GDP production environment producing various kit configurations
- Assist in training peers according to SOPs in the effective use of equipment, methods of storage and retrieval
- May process biological samples based on client specifications
- Day-to-day multiple repository project coordination
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, supply chain or related field
- Preferred: Experience in Manufacturing
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Work independently and able to set priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient time management and organizational skills required
- Ability to trouble shoot facility equipment issues and provide suggestions/solutions for implementation
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
- Work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infections agents, marked changes in temperature
- Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs and push up to 70 lbs
- Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day
