Job Description
We are seeking a Strain Improvement Lab Technician to enhance the performance of new microbial strains by running screenings at various scales, from microtiter plates to shake flask assays. The technician will collaborate closely with project teams to deploy screening strategies and integrate high-throughput and orthogonal assays for efficient compound profiling. Additionally, the technician will prepare and validate cell banks for research and some manufacturing sites, and present results and scientific findings to project teams, stakeholders, and management.
Responsibilities
- Enhance the performance of new microbial strains by running screenings at different scales (from microtiter plates to shake flask assays).
- Collaborate closely with project teams to deploy screening strategies and integrate high-throughput and orthogonal assays for efficient compound profiling.
- Prepare and validate cell banks for research and manufacturing sites.
- Prepare and present results and scientific findings to project teams, stakeholders, and management.

- BS in Biology/Microbiology degree with experience in microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, microbial culturing, fermentation, or related field
- Experience analyzing microbial cells in small-scale cultivation systems
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with classical strain improvement, adaptive laboratory evolution, and automated liquid handling systems is a plus
- Experience with advanced data analysis software programs such as Spotfire, PowerBI, or JMP is a plus
- Motivated self-starter with good organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Attention to detail is a must
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Work Environment
This laboratory focuses on nutritional products, supporting the development and refinement of new products for use in both animals and people. The R&D site is intellectually engaging, with staff willing to contribute to the professional development of consultants. The lab provides an opportunity to gain experience with biotechnical processes, particularly the science and technology of genetically modifying microbial strains for various biotechnological applications.
